Not happening. That rumor was started by Jim Haslem and some other boosters that were ****ed that Hamilton fired Fulmer. They (Haslem, Thornton, ect) were also the ones telling ESPN that Fulmer was a candidate for the coaching job. Hamilton was asked today at the press conference if there was a chance that Fulmer could be back as the HC, in about 1/4 of a second he said "No.". If Fulmer was going to be the AD, Hamilton wouldn't be doing a coaching search right now. They'd be announcing Fulmer as the AD and he'd be starting a search.
Re: Kiffin leaves UT to coach USC
I just heard people talking about, I found it far-fetched, but UT has to be desperate right now. They HAVE to get a coach in ASAP, NSD is in two weeks
Re: Kiffin leaves UT to coach USC
Hamilton said they'd have someone before the weekend.
Re: Kiffin leaves UT to coach USC
Lung have you read any of the things the players/football staff have said about Kiffin's tenure?
about him showing USC highlights in the fball complex instead of UT highlights, showing players like Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart instead of Jamal Lewis and Peyton. its ridiuclous.
the worst thing was the Kiffin himself refused to say Gen. Neyland's 12 maxim's himself. He never once said them. He let former players do it, then didnt even do it at all on the road. its sickening that Kiffin cared nothing about UT, only himself.
UT is better off, they need a guy that will build on the tradition of UT, not try and make it USC-knoxville.
and Ed Orgeron is one of the biggest pieces of ish in cfb. he was calling the UT EE's and prospects and telling them they had a scholly at USC, WHILE he was still in the UT complex. some UT players put it on speakerphone and let the whole team hear what he was saying. then he refused to answer the phone for UT's current players.
trust me Lung, UT is better off without the snake Lane and the piece of trash Orgeron. losing MOnte hurts, but they will be better.

I know that they had police in last night when he made an announcment to the team and they basically had to rush him out of the room before he was pummeled. The video thing was understandable. He used it to show recruits what his offense would look like during his first recruiting class. Why would he show the disaster of what Clawson did there in 08? This season he showed UT's offense.

I don't think that's completely accurate either. I remember he had Al Wilson come in and do it I think before WKU. They did it on the road also, I think he might have had a captain read it though.

That's true. I don't know what will happen with that but if nothing else, Lane has another secondary violation to deal with. Fortunately for USC this time.

Maybe. I didn't expect him to be there long regardless. I thought at most, he'd be there 5 years. I hoped that if he couldn't coach, that he'd at least get the roster stocked enough for the next guy to have something to work with, kind of like Orgeron did for Houston Nutt. I was curious to see how he'd do. I think he's actually going to be a pretty good coach. I liked the way he got the players to play. He recruited well. I know it ****ed a lot of people off, but I liked that he kind of took up for UT unlike Fulmer when Spurrier, Meyer, and even Miles had some smart ass comment to say about UT. Orgeron I was always wary of. I never trusted him and I thought that it could end up being trouble with him being there. I think he's a hell of a DL coach, but other things are scary. Monte from what I told called Jim Haslem and apologized for what was happening. He said he told Lane that it was the wrong thing to do and he didn't agree with it. End the end he said that it was his son and he had to support him.

From the quotes I found from Josh McNeil last night, when Kiffin first got there, they only showed USC highlights. I mean UT has struggled, but its not like UT isnt a tradition rich school with plenty of big time players. Why not showcase Peyton Manning and Deon Grant instead of Carson Palmer and Reggie Bush? At least showcase the UT guys.
It was from an article posted on bleacher report, it just said that Kiffin had stopped saying the maxims on the road.
They also said that they basically treated UT like it was USC-lite. Using the same cheers, same chants before the game, etc. McNeil commented on that the UT players thought the ST-WILD BOYS was personal to them, until they found out USC used to do it like SC WILD BOYS haha. also something about chanting comin outta the tunnel, the UT players apparently thought it was specific towards them, but then found out USC did the same thing.
I dont agree with the threats of violence and rioting on campus. I dont even think Kiffin did such a terrible thing, USC at this point is a better selling point than K-ville, and he is a west coast guy. but i dont like not telling the team first, and basically running outta town and trying to take the EE's and recruits with them.
oregeron is a helluva DL coach, one of the best and a fantastic recruiter, but i dunno if i trust him to actually do anything big. he doesnt have the brain for it.
Re: Kiffin leaves UT to coach USC
Dallas Morning News is reporting Muschamp has turned down UTs offer. I would post a link but my PC at work isn't "working" too well.

UT's website says classes begin Jan 13th, 2010
He also said that if you were on campus at 12:01 this morning you are an official student of the University of Tennessee.
I actually got an answer to this last night on SportsCenter. Tom Luginbill was interviewed, said that you can be on campus, but that there's a lot of gray area as far as the NCAA is concerned if you enroll but don't attend a class. Until all the EE's actually attend a class, they're still fair game, so to speak.
Once an EE attends a class at the school, it's game over--you're there for the next year and if you want to transfer out, you sit a full year.
Regardless of what Hamilton said in that last part of your post, if they don't attend a class, they don't begin having an academic record with the University, which is what the NCAA looks at.
